In conjunction with the writing of “Basics Plus - Ways to Improve Your Game of Pool,” this resource page was created.
The book I wrote provides an outline of basics that, if applied, WILL improve your playing. When you get back to basics and apply sound principals to your game, your win percentage will increase and the level of fun you will have will also increase. Let’s face it, winning is fun.
Practice

The amount of time you are willing to spend in practice will show up on the pool table. Many think that the time they spend shooting straight in shots doesn’t matter. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those thousands of practice shots translates into the one match-winning shot when the pressure is on.
When you devote yourself to something, you are giving yourself permission to pursue something that is going to yield results. You are practicing to get beyond where you are now.
8-Ball

This game is played with 9 balls and are shot in order from 1 - 9. As long as you shoot in order, any ball in counts and you keep shooting…

In this game, you must call each pocket and any ball made out of turn doesn’t count… no “slop” is allowed in 10-Ball…
Practice
Lot’s of “intentional” Practice!
Start with shooting 10 of each problem shot… then go to 20 and so on…
Focus
Any game of pool is 90% focus. Mental discipline is a key to playing more consistent pool whether in league, playing tournaments or just having fun!
Basics
Solid Fundamentals in your game of pool will translate into more wins at the pub and the pool hall. When you have a solid foundation, your game will elevate.
